China Update!

Construction has started on a new school in the XinTang village, nearest big city: Kunming; in Yunnan Province of Southwest China.

We started grading on a school in China the first week in October but more importantly we have partnered with the Chinese government to build the second school – which means they will contribute financially to the construction but more importantly will accept the school into their education system. This means they will set up the curriculum; supply the books and material, and supply and pay the teachers and officially recognize students who attend this school. The school should take about 4 months to complete.

Schools in China

We are pleased to announce our second large project - Building several schools near Kunming, China

As a result of our partnership formed with David and Jennifer Jones we believe can complete 2 new Christian based schools in 2007 and even more in 2008. With the help of an American missionary who is in China they were able to complete a school in 2006. We will use this school as our model to complete more schools. The great piece to this model is that the villagers provide the labor to build the schools. As they work on the school many question why these Americans would provide their time and money to help their children – which proved to be a powerful means to introduce them to God and a great means to convert many people into believers. We are so excited to be helping the Jones continue their work in China: they already have started a second school and we hope to start their third school in spring 2007. They and Steve have already identified several more villages in dire needs of schools.

Currently many children fill a bag up with rice and leave Monday morning for a half day walk to a nearby village to attend their school. Since it is so far away the children sleep on the floor of the school all week and return home on Friday evening. We hope to eliminate this and also greatly improve the type and quality of education while also introducing the children and adults to the love of Our GOD.
